Apple Park is Apple's new, 175-acre corporate campus. Its 2.8 million-square-foot main building, or "spaceship," is considered to be one of the most energy-efficient buildings on earth. The campus and nearby visitor center opened in 2017, and will house over 12,000 employees.

First announced by Steve Jobs in 2006, Apple kicked off construction on its new 175-acre “Campus 2” in late 2013 and was expected to start moving in more than 12,000 of its employees in April 2017. The campus, located approximately one mile east of its current headquarters in Cupertino, California is also often referred to as the Apple “Spaceship” due to the appearance of the site’s main circular building.

CEO Tim Cook explained why Apple Park’s theater was named after the late Steve Jobs:

To honor his memory and his enduring influence on Apple and the world, the theater at Apple Park will be named the Steve Jobs Theater. Opening later this year, the entrance to the 1,000-seat auditorium is a 20-foot-tall glass cylinder, 165 feet in diameter, supporting a metallic carbon-fiber roof. The Steve Jobs Theater is situated atop a hill — one of the highest points within Apple Park — overlooking meadows and the main building.

Apple Park also houses a visitor center with an exclusive corporate store and mini Caffè Macs. The visitor center opened to public in November 2017.

Latest 4K Apple Park drone video drops down inside the spaceship ring at sunset

It includes dropping down inside the ring at sunset, and a peek down inside the building through some glass panels in the roof …

Latest 4K drone video shows landscaping progress at Apple Park, closer look at Steve Jobs Theater atrium

Matthew Roberts is back with his latest 4K drone footage of Apple Park – including a closer look at the atrium of the Steve Jobs Theater.

Visible construction progress tends to be rather uneven in nature. There’s a lot of largely invisible foundational work in the early stages, and then right at the end we see a lot of rapid changes as the finishing touches are applied and construction equipment removed …

Apple Park construction workers are posting on-site photos and videos to Snapchat

As noted this morning on Reddit, workers on the Apple Park campus site are posting photos and video snaps to Snapchat for the world to see. Whilst this openness surely isn’t endorsed by Apple, it seems to have been going on for a long time unnoticed with snaps going back weeks. There is enough for it to appear on the ‘Snap Map’ as a heat spot at least.

Jony Ive shares new details about Apple Park in WSJ interview, design team moves to new offices in the fall

In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s design chief Jony Ive details various elements of Apple Park including a few tidbits we haven’t heard before. Ive’s interview will be the cover story on the WSJ Magazine’s August issue.

Although the piece does not say when Apple Park will be fully up and running, it does say that Ive’s design team will move over in the fall, scheduled as ‘one of the last’. This suggests that Apple is aiming to have all employees at Apple Park by the end of the year.
