Deepwater Asset Management last week announced their 2024 predictions, and out of the 13 items included, one that caught our attention was the prediction that Apple would acquire Peloton. Head below for more details.
Today, Peloton is launching its new freemium app. Alongside several new membership tiers, a new strength feature called “Peloton Gym,” and the release of rowing classes to members – we have a lot to dig into.
Peloton has made recent changes, one of which includes stopping the production of its workout equipment at its own facilities. Since then, the company now relies on other companies for manufacturing, some being notable Apple suppliers.
Activist investors at Blackwells Capital aren’t happy with Peloton’s recent changes and are once again calling on the company to explore an acquisition from Apple. In a new report released this week, Blackwells Capital says that Peloton hasn’t made any substantive progress under new CEO Barry McCarthy, and in fact, “shareholders are worse off now than before.”
As reported by our colleagues at Connect The Watts, Peloton yesterday started rolling out support for Apple Watch heart rate integration to its Bike and Tread products. In conjunction with this announcement, Peloton has also started selling Apple Watch bands featuring a prominent Peloton logo.
Could this be a sign that, despite being competitors in the subscription fitness industry, Peloton is looking to cozy up to Apple?
A new report this morning says that we’ll see high-tech exercise bike company Peloton slashing jobs and replacing its CEO, as it struggles to cope with falling demand.
Amid reports that companies like Amazon and Nike are internally mulling a potential acquisition of Peloton, Wedbush analysts say that they “would be shocked if Apple is not aggressively involved” in the bidding as well. In fact, Wedbush believes that it could be a “business model risk” for Apple if another company were to acquire Peloton…
Update:The Financial Times now reports that Nike has also discussed an acquisition of Peloton. The report also says: “Other buyers are also likely to emerge, said those briefed on the matter, potentially including Apple and large private equity buyers.”
On Thursday, CNBC reported that fitness unicorn Peloton was in dire straits. The company saw its value plummet on the news that they were “temporarily halting production of its connected fitness products as consumer demand wanes.” As the pandemic starts to move to the back of many minds, there’s been a significant drop in the number of people looking to buy expensive home workout equipment. Because of this, the idea of Apple purchasing Peloton has come back up. It has lingered for awhile, but now the idea is gaining more traction in the press. I think everyone needs to cool their jets.
As our colleagues have covered in detail over on Connect the Watts, Peloton’s 2022 is off to an incredibly rocky start. As the struggles mount, investors at Blackwells Capital LLC, which owns less than 5% of Peloton, are now calling on the company to fire CEO John Foley and explore a sale to Apple, Disney, or Nike.
An analyst argues that high-tech exercise bike and treadmill company Peloton is struggling to compete with Apple today, and things are only going to get tougher in the future…
Popular connected fitness company Peloton reported its earnings for fiscal Q1 2022 today. The company missed expectations across the board, and it’s blaming Apple for some of its challenges. Specifically, like many other companies recently, Peloton says that Apple’s App Tracking Transparency platform is impacting its ability to gain new subscribers…
From 9to5Mac’s new sister site ConnectTheWatts, covering all of the latest connected fitness news.
With Peloton recently removing the ability of Apple Watch users to pair with the Peloton Bike+ for any classes besides cycling, I was on the hunt to discover whether there was any other way to sync my Apple Watch to Peloton. Luckily, I quickly came across the Watch Link. (See below to get 10% off!)
One of the selling points of the newer, upgraded, and more expensive Peloton Bike+ was the inclusion of the Apple GymKit, an Apple platform that makes it very easy to pair the bike with your Apple Watch to see your heart rate and have your workouts directly imported into Apple Fitness and Apple Health. But Apple’s relationship with Peloton has always been a dicey one and a move this week by the rising star of connected fitness might disappoint users of both platforms.
Apple Fitness+ was unveiled at Apple’s September Apple Watch event, but a specific arrival date wasn’t shared. It’s now been announced that the personalized fitness service based around Apple Watch will be available on December 14. If you’re looking to add in a new workout routine for 2021, you might be asking which service is best: Apple Fitness+ or Peloton?
During Apple’s fall event, the company announced Fitness+, a new subscription service with deep integration with Apple Watch that will available later year this on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV for $9.99/month or $79.99/year.
Since receiving my Peloton bike in the middle of May, it’s been a constant in my life. Outside of days I’ve not been at home, I have only taken one day off from riding. I’ve become immersed in the community over on Reddit where I’ve enjoyed the group rides, celebrating milestones, and just chatting about connected fitness. Peloton is an ecosystem instead of just being a fitness product. A new iPhone app, Motion, is a perfect example of the ecosystem expanding with new options to extend the built-in functionality.
Peloton members will soon be able to turn the Apple TV into a living room fitness instructor. Subscribers were notified on Tuesday that a new Peloton app for the Apple TV is on the way. The company recently released Chromecast support for smart TVs after launching a Fire TV and Apple Watch app in December.
I’ve been exploring the world of Peloton since the exercise bike showed up in my home office last week. While Peloton does not work with GymKit, there are two Apple features that work with the workout system.
Peloton bikes and treadmills offer limited Apple Music integration for streaming music subscribers with linked accounts. Workouts tracked with the Peloton system can be saved to Apple’s Health app, too, although logging sessions with Apple Watch requires some configuration.
Great news for Apple Watch users who workout with Peloton. There’s now a new way to use your Apple Watch while you exercise.
Peloton already worked with Apple Health on the iPhone and workouts could be tracked from the watch, but the new app gives more control and data during sessions.
Peloton is a fitness firm best known for its stationary bikes equipped with touchscreens for live and on-demand video workout classes. The seven-year-old American company, which launched its IPO in September, doesn’t just serve cyclists though.
Peloton Tread serves walkers and runners alike, and Peloton Digital for iPhone and iPad lets you experience even more workout courses — even if you don’t have stationary bike or treadmill from Peloton. My whole family has been testing the full Peloton system over the last six weeks. Read on for our experience starting with Peloton Digital for iPhone and iPad.
