MagSafe Monday: ESR builds upon Apple’s foundation with a Find My integrated iPhone wallet with a stand

ESR MagSafe wallet

I typically lose my wallet at least two times a month. Most recently, I couldn’t find it on New Year’s Day. I was starting to worry that I’d left it at the restaurant I had been the night before. I eventually found it in my bed, but it took me half an hour to search for it. This is one of the benefits of a Find My integrated accessory. I would have been much less worried if I knew it was at home. ESR’s iPhone wallet with Find My integration solves this problem with plenty of room to spare. Let’s look at the pros and cons of the ESR MagSafe wallet.

A few weeks ago, I looked at the state of Wi-Fi 6E and noted that it was probably time to start paying attention to when you’re deploying products that support the new standard and plan your deployment around that. We’ve started to see early discussion of Wi-Fi 7, though. How does this new Wi-Fi standard impact your planning – should you skip Wi-Fi 6E entirely?

HomeKit Weekly: CozyLife smart plugs bridge the gap with ‘dumb devices’

CozyLife homeKit

HomeKit smart plugs are generally the first step new users take on their smart home journey. Nearly everyone has a lamp, coffee maker, or other home appliance they want to “HomeKitify” (yes, I just created a new word), and a smart plug is the easiest, fastest, and least expensive way to do that. I’ve had the CozyLife HomeKit plug in my box of items to test for a while now, but frankly, it’s so small, that it was hidden under another box.

Apple @ Work: Acquisitions lead to struggles for Windows and Linux device management

I believe 2024 will be a year in which we see a lot of mergers and acquisitions in the enterprise IT and software industries. ZIRP (Zero Interest Rate Policy) is over, and as debt becomes much more expensive, many companies find themselves in a situation where their business model doesn’t make sense anymore. These mergers and acquisitions often lead to companies feeling nervous about the future. If you have a software license with a company and they get bought, your result is usually worse service, increased fees, or both. One such situation that companies are dealing with today is Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware. Today, Fleet is announcing support for Linux and Windows to help ease the transition from Workspace ONE.

MagSafe Monday: The Anker 313 Wireless Charging Stand simplifies your daily desk charging with Standby support

MagSafe Monday

I’ve tried countless desk charging solutions over the years, and I’ve always struggled with the off-and-on process with MagSafe. As much as I love MagSafe, there is a tension (pun intended) with quick removals when leaving your desk for errands, meetings, etc. The Anker 313 Wireless Charger Stand aims to eliminate that friction and allows you to “drop” your iPhone on it for easy charging with one-handed removal.

I’ve written about AppleCare many times over the past few years, and I’ve generally come away with the same answer: it financially doesn’t make sense for most organizations. The keyword in that sentence is most. Sometimes, it makes sense when time is more valuable than money.

MagSafe Monday: Anker’s 10,000mAh battery with stand keeps your iPhone 15 running night and day

Anker Magnetic Battery

One of the downsides of leaving the Max lineup with my iPhone 15 was the battery life. The Max iPhones, thanks to their bigger batteries, keep running and running. While the battery life of the iPhone 15 is fantastic, I have noticed that I can get low by the end of the day if I am traveling or out and about without a charger. To augment that, I’ve been using the Anker Magnetic Battery 10,000mAh.

HomeKit Weekly: Homey Pro now works with Matter-over-Thread devices, including Eve, Nanoleaf, and more

Homey Pro

Last week, I ran through the Homey Pro, and I think it’s a fantastic device and ecosystem. Suppose you’ve gotten into where you want HomeKit to do more than it can functionally. In that case, I think it’s a great ecosystem to invest in as you can continue using all of your HomeKit devices, but now you can start to build an ecosystem outside of it. Today, Homey is announcing that the Homey Pro can now download a free software update that enables its built-in Thread radio. Through the update, Matter-over-Thread devices can be directly connected to Homey Pro without needing a secondary Thread Border Router.

MagSafe Monday: Belkin Magnetic Wireless Car Charger sets the standard for low-profile wireless car charging

MagSafe Monday

We’re kicking off a new weekly series here on 9to5Mac that’ll aim to uncover the best, most unique, and most useful MagSafe and wireless charging accessories. Since the introduction of MagSafe with the iPhone 12, it’s been the primary way I’ve charged my iPhone. Even with the addition of USB-C with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, I’ve continued relying on MagSafe and other wireless chargers for daily and nightly charging. In a sense, it’s MagSafe or bust for me. To kick off the first edition of MagSafe Monday, I want to look at the Belkin Magnetic Wireless Car Charger.
