Black. White. Or red. In a small 4.7” design. With studio-quality portraits. Sharp 4K video. Long battery life. A13 Bionic — the fastest chip in a smartphone. And the security of Touch ID, with privacy built in. iPhone SE. Lots to love. And less to spend.

The iPhone SE 2020 is a 4.7-inch design with Apple’s A13 Bionic chip (same as iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro).

A13 Bionic was built with a focus on machine learning, with a dedicated 8-core Neural Engine capable of 5 trillion operations per second, two Machine Learning Accelerators on the CPU and a new Machine Learning Controller to balance performance and efficiency. Together, A13 Bionic and iOS 13 enable new intelligent apps that make use of machine learning and Core ML®.

The new iPhone also includes the ability to take 4K video (60 fps) along with a 12-megapixel f/1.8 aperture Wide camera. It uses the image signal processor and Neural Engine of A13 Bionic to allow for  even more benefits of computational photography, including Portrait Mode, Six Portrait Lighting effects, and Depth Control.

If you still prefer Touch ID over Face ID, you’ll love the iPhone SE 2020 as it retains the popular home button. The new iPhone is also water- and dust-resistant with an IP67 rating for water resistance up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

iPhone SE 2020 Communication Technology

If you’re looking for information about the Wi-Fi technology in the iPhone SE, you’ll be pleased to know that Apple has built-in Wi-Fi 6 technology along with Express Card support.

As we discovered from beta code, the iPhone SE does also feature support for “Express Cards with power reserve” to allow for authentication even when your iPhone runs out of juice. That will come in handy for Express Transit and also for Apple’s upcoming CarKey feature.

However, one piece of networking hardware the new iPhone SE doesn’t have is Apple’s Ultra Wideband chip that’s in the iPhone 11 series. That helps with more seamless AirDrop sharing for now and in the future is expected to work with Apple’s upcoming AirTags.

iPhone SE 2020 pricing

The price starts at $399 for the 64GB model. The 128GB model is $449. The 256 GB model is $549. With a trade-in, the new iPhone can be purchased for even less money out of pocket.

iPhone 9 preview — will it live up to the popular iPhone SE? [Video]

The long-rumored iPhone 9, which could be announced any time now, will fill a much-needed spot at the bottom of Apple’s iPhone lineup.

From a business standpoint it makes total sense. The release of an iPhone 9 will provide customers with a less expensive phone with modern internals, and at the same time can make a healthy profit, thanks to already established manufacturing and assembly processes.

Yet while the iPhone 9 will probably sell well, it won’t generate the same sort of love and cult following as the last budget-minded phone that Apple produced way back in 2016 — the iPhone SE. Watch our iPhone 9 preview video for the details as to why.

9to5Mac has learned several new details about the upcoming iPhone 9 based on iOS 14 code. Now we’ve discovered evidence that Apple is also working on a larger “iPhone 9 Plus” — not only an iPhone 9 — to replace both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. While rumors of the 4.7-inch hardware has been reported through the supply chain, this is the first time evidence supports a larger version of the entry level iPhone.

Bloomberg: iPhone SE 2 on track to launch in March despite coronavirus production delays, new iPad Pro in first half of the year

Last night, Apple released a statement warning investors that it would miss its quarterly revenue guidance, making it the second revenue warning in only two years. Apple said that business outside of China was strong, but production bottlenecks would affect worldwide supply and domestic Chinese demand was also down.

Bloomberg says that Apple has been readying the lower-cost ‘iPhone SE 2’, which will resemble an iPhone 8 with an A13 chip inside, despite coronavirus disruption to factories. The publication believes the device is still on track to launch in March.

Coronavirus threatens production of iPhone 9/SE 2

It’s being reported that the current outbreak of a SARS-like coronavirus in China threatens production of the budget iPhone Apple is expected to launch in the next couple of months, variously referred to as the iPhone 9 and iPhone SE 2.

China is instigating quarantine measures and travel restrictions intended to curb the spread of the virus, along with some workers being told to stay at home, and experts say that Apple’s supply chain is almost certain to be effected …
